Call for Short Contribution and final CfP
COMPOLICY – Complex evolutionary dynamics: actors, territories and policies
a Satellite Meeting in the European Conference on Complex System 2014
September 24, 2014 (Morning, 09.30 – 13.00), Lucca, Italy
the Satellite opens the opportunity to short contribution (up to 3 pages)
Francesco Niglia, Dimitri Gagliardi, Fatihcan Atay, Mercedes Bleda, Timoteo Carletti, Angelo Corallo, Valerio Eletti, Corentin Fontaine.
Rationale on the workshop
A real socio-economic system can be also identified by territorial and social boundaries: a city, a region etc. The actors therein operating are firms, markets, industrial clusters and are embedded in regional and national innovation systems. An emerging approach identifies the socio-economic system as a ‘smart territory’ characterised by the flow of citizens; the domain of interest is that of public services. Smart territories require business integrated services and long term sustainability, whilst their governance require 2.0 making tools, enabling the sharing of targets between policy makers, innovation and growth strategies and monitoring.
The general idea of this satellite is that these advances can significantly enhance evolutionary explanations of dynamic economic phenomena, and that as complex adaptive systems (CAS) theory constitutes the appropriate analytical framework within which analyse the evolution of socio-economic systems. CAS theory is increasingly being used in socio-economic contexts since the widely accepted view that all social and economic systems are complex adaptive systems has led to important advances on how the general properties of CAS are translated or understood in the economic and the organizational fields.
Call for Contribution
We are pleased to announce the organization of the workshop ‘Complex evolutionary dynamics: actors, territories and policies’ during ECCS 2014 (www.eccs14.eu), on the 24th of September 2014 (morning).
We invite empirical and theoretical contributions focusing on the adoption of a complexity perspective to contribute to:
- the conceptual development of evolutionary explanations of dynamic organizational and socio-economic phenomena,
- understanding the multi-level networking of heterogeneous actors,
- evaluation or conceptualization of the expected impact of new technologies in actors’ feedback,
- investigating organizational capabilities and routines,
- discovering insights of strategic behaviour,
- providing tools for entrepreneurship model design,
- understanding emergence of organizational learning,
- study the dynamics of innovation.
Outlook – Call for Short Contribution
Short contribution are asked to focus maximum on 2 of the above topics, providing description – at a glance – of an innovative idea or method or framework for the study or the analysis or the benchmark of complex socio-economic environments.
Original works should be submitted to email@example.com by the 31 of July at 23:59 CET. Short contribution shall be not longer than 3 pages (A4, 11pt times new roman or equivalent ones) including up to 2 schemes/pictures/tables.
The authors of the selected papers will be informed by the 08 of August and will be asked to submit a refined version of the work and, in addition, a 5-slides presentation for the 31st August
The whole proceedings will be included into a Meeting Report to be shared with the main ECCS2014 organisation. The participation to the workshop is reserved to the main conference participants, for further information please refer to the main conference website http://www.eccs14.eu/
